Closely related, being able to open my windows without getting a blast of unpleasantly cold wind.
Specifically, I live about 30 meters from one of the Great Lakes, so by opening the windows a crack I get to fall asleep to waves crashing against the shore. Which I can't do if (a) it's unwise to open the windows, and (b) the lake is frozen.
Every task is easy if somebody else is doing it.

Yeah they kind of go together, here's an idea to cheer you up, read some H P Lovecraft about elder gods sleeping underneath frozen lakes trying to reawaken. In the summer you can always read Innsmouth stories before bedtime. I'm sure you'll sleep like a baby after that kind of stuff.

The east coast has been really getting it in the neck, huh? Some of my acquaintances in Nova Scotia have taken to calling Wednesday "Blizzard Day" because there's been a bad-to-crippling storm in the middle of almost every single week.

This Wednesday wasn't as bad as forecast. At least in Cape Breton. We got only ~30cm, and somehow, despite the 100km/hr wind, snow and freezing rain the power didn't go out.

Well, thank heaven for small favors. Though from what I heard the storm's direction meant it was the mainland that got it in the neck. Halifax shut down, the Cobequid Pass closed.... Oy. When I was down there the weather was never that bad. Had some ugly storms to be sure, but never anything like this.

The electricity gets loose from the cables when they fall off the poles and touch the ground. Just put the cables back on the poles, assuming the poles are still standing there and haven't been invaded by the Russians after they blitzkrieg the Ukraine.

See subject line. Spring here in Southern California marks the beginning of mating season as well as a fresh influx of dumb horny rich girls from Michigan and Massachusetts looking to cheat on their boyfriends back home -- and aside of all that, using OK Cupid as my personal bordello.
Other accomplishments include being accepted into CSU and intimidating my obnoxious loud dope-fiend deadbeat-dad next-door neighbor whom I call "fuckhead" into silence and vacating the premises for good. As the saying goes, you never shit where you eat.

Seasons are subtle where I dwell. Spring is not particularly noticeable, except for some exotic flowering trees that still bloom as they do where they are originally from. Oh, and the Whales leave.

I am looking forward to starting a garden with the kids now that I have some land to do it on.
Partly it is an educational thing for them, partly it is fresh veggies, and partly it is a good excuse to spend time with them before Dad is uncool (which I am, but they are too young to know it) and they don't want to spend time with their old man anymore.

BBQs, smoked ribs, sausages and bacon (and beer while making them); not having to layer up like a f$cking Michelin mascot to leave the house; wearing flip flops; playing outside with my kid; using the raised gardening beds we built last fall etc. etc.
And as I write this, there's still a ton of snow outside even though by now it's all supposed to be gone. Here's to hoping it's the last week of it! On the plus side, poor guys in the Maritime provinces of Canada are under a storm that should bring them about 50cm of snow, I feel for those poor souls!

I camp all year round, but it's finally getting warm enough to take the kids. They spent 19 nights in a tent last year, at the age of 3 (I had about 35 nights myself).
Just got a new American made instant tent (tent and fly up in 3-4 minutes, 10 if I need to storm proof), replacing my last one that had about 175 uses over 6 years.
I would live in a tent if it was possible...

I'm looking forward to the blooming of the flowers. Where I live, the golden poppy (and the California state flower) tends to bloom in great abundance for some odd reason. Despite the lack of rain, they have started blooming again. The blooms are huge this year and very, very orange. It's almost like something out of the Wizard of Oz. The hairy vetch (I kid you not, that's the name), a lupin-like plant with beautiful purple bell-shaped flowers, are starting to come out as well. The spring in California is always a nice time. It's the time when the state greens up. It's normal condition for the rest of the year is brown.
It's really quite a simple choice: Life, Death, or Los Angeles.

I'm also in the desert, and I love summer. It's a bit harsher than spring/fall, but you've got 18 hours of sunlight to get anything and everything done. The weather is PERFECT from sun-up until it gets close to noon, while you'd never consider going for a walk right after sunrise in the dead of winter (and "dead" is the best name for it). It has it's challenges, but if you dress properly, find shade wherever you can, and always carry lots of cold water with you, it's great. Also, swamp coolers happen to be far cheaper to operate than air conditioners.

Down in Florida, spring and summer might as well be the same thing. The only difference is in the spring there is a small chance we'll have one or two cool days, the rest of the time it might as well just be summer heat. I look forward to moving to colder weather, so I can bitch about the cold :) I guess it always seems like the grass is greener some place else.
Not really looking forward to anything this spring, though I know I need to get around to painting the house.

Hate to break it to you, but here in Italy it's already been Spring for a month. The weather is fine, the sky is sunny and blue, and we're down to 2 layers of clothing (only one at midday)
The only problem, as always, is the glare on laptop screens that prevent you from doing useful stuff in your porch. Oh well, I guess it's gardening time!

Speaking for my horses, they will be quite glad to be rid of blankets and so will I. One night it's 40+, then next upper twenties. Pain in the ass trying to figure out when to use them or not.
I look forward to riding without layers, and hoping that I can be fixing up a farm I hope to buy. BTW, anyone interested in hiring a Part time developer I'm all ears for my dream is to run a farm, but still keep my hands in programming.

As to "it's fall here" a lot of the world only has two seasons, the dry season and the rainy season. The temperature doesn't vary much close to the equator.
