I can't see a comment button on the page, I have to use "Reply To This"
Also, I have to click the Login link every time I visit the site.

To the right of the threshold options there is a button "reply" to post a new comment. As in reply to this submission. I heard this was old slashdot formatting, but I'd like to see that changed to "post new comment" or something.
